Cognitive Abilities Testing: During the week of February 5th, 2018, students in third and fifth grades will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT).  These tests measure students’ abilities and provide information used to help assess their academic need. Please be sure your child gets adequate sleep and healthy breakfasts during test week.  Tests will be given at a scheduled time during the day, so it is also best to make sure your child arrives at school on time. Please direct any questions or concerns regarding this test to your building counselor.

Girl’s Winter Soccer Opportunity: Calling all soccer loving ladies! It’s not too late to have some indoor soccer fun this winter.  A 4th– 6th grade section has opened up, in addition to the Junior High and High School groups.  Please take advantage of this great winter soccer opportunity! Support PV Athletics & Save the Date: The PV Athletic Boosters Annual Cake Auction will be held on Tuesday February 6, 2018 during the boys/girls basketball double-header vs. Bettendorf. The proceeds from this event support ALL sports and athletes. Cody Calypso: The Cody Calypso is TONIGHT from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Join us for this traditional FREE family-friendly school dance. Prizes will be awarded to our hula hoop winners and students with the best costumes connecting to our theme Join The Circus – What Makes You Unique. This is not a drop off event.  See you tonight!

Cody Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences:  Conferences will be held during the weeks of February 26-March 2, 2018.  There will be one traditional “set night” on Thursday, March 1st when all teachers will be at school.  The other dates and times throughout the two weeks will be set by individual teachers and will allow families to choose from a variety of dates and times to meet with the classroom teacher.  Scheduling conferences will be online this year.  More details and instructions are to come about this new process for scheduling conferences.  There will be a launch date when the schedule goes “live” and you may start checking teachers’ availability.

Variety Show: Be sure to mark the calendar for next Friday, February 2nd for the Riverdale Heights Variety show starting at 6:00 p.m.!  The show will open with a great faculty performance, followed by 32 student acts.  See you there!

Riverdale Heights Breaking Barriers Award:  PVCSD is proud to announce that Riverdale Heights and PVHS have won two Breaking Barriers Awards this year!  Riverdale Heights Elementary has won the award for an unprecedented four times in the last four years. Riverdale Heights was honored for its work with students whose native language is not English, otherwise known as English Language Learners (ELL). Eighty-two percent of ELL students at the school are proficient in reading and math, compared to a statewide average of 50 percent among ELL students. Click here to watch the Iowa Department of Education Award Ceremony where Riverdale Heights and PVHs were honored. *Information provided by Iowa Department of Education*

Diploma Orders: Attention Seniors/Parents/Guardians!  Diplomas will be ordered on January 29th, 2018.  The diploma will read exactly how your name is entered in the portal. If you log in, you can see the name in the upper left hand corner next to your student’s picture.   If you would like to add a full middle name or change to an initial, please email Dawn Taghon (taghondawn@pleasval.k12.ia.us ) or have your student stop by the main office by January 26th, 2018.

PVHS Blood Drive: The next blood drive is being held February 7th at PVHS.  The PVHS PTA is requesting your help in providing healthy snacks for student donors.  Please click here for ways you can help!
