Visiting Author Book Signing:  Sarah Weeks will be at Bridgeview on Monday, April 16, 2018, and event sponsored by the Bridgeview PTA. If you would like your student to have a book autographed by the author, you will need to bring one of her books into the library. Transition to Kindergarten Screenings: Pleasant Valley is currently accepting placement requests for the district’s 5-year-old Transition to Kindergarten program for the 2018-2019 school year.  The Transition to Kindergarten Program is located at Bridgeview Elementary School in LeClaire.  Please note there is a limited enrollment size in this program; therefore, enrollment is determined through a needs-based screening process.  Click here for full details and information on the screening process.

District Band Night:  PV Bands are excited to announce that again this year, they will be presenting the annual Pleasant Valley District Band Night Concert at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline, IL on Monday, April 23, 2018 beginning at 7:00 p.m.  By having the event at the TaxSlayer Center, all 13 bands and 830 students are able to perform together on one concert! You will receive more information about this spectacular event in the near future.  Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about this venue change and we look forward to seeing everyone at this exciting concert on Monday, April 23, 2018!

PV Summer Robotics Camp: Registration is now open for “NXTreme Explorations” Robotics Camp!  This camp is a summer opportunity for students to explore robotics through the use of LEGO Mindstorms NXT robots. Pleasant Valley students who are entering 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th grade for the 2018-2019 school year are invited to register.  NEW TO CAMP – TETRIX Tenpin for students entering 8th and 9th grades!  Campers will build and program a robotic bowler using the TETRIX MAX building system and ROBOT-C programming software.  This would be a great introduction to the robots being used in Project Lead the Way courses and FIRST Tech Challenge at the high school.  Space is extremely limited for this session of camp, so register early! Visiting Author Book Signing: This year we are pleased to announce Sarah Weeks, a well-known children’s author, will be at Pleasant View on Tuesday, April 17th.  New this year, you will need to purchase your own book and send it in to be autographed. Strength, Speed, & Agility Training: Pleasant Valley Jr. High School is providing an opportunity for your 7th/8th grade son/daughter to participate in a developmental strength, speed, and agility program beginning on March 26th and ending on May 2nd. They are in need of volunteers to help with the Turnabout Dance on Saturday, 3/3.  To ensure that this event runs smoothly, we need 16 adult volunteers to attend this dance to help check in students and their personal belongings, watch exits, and serve water.  Please note, if there are not enough chaperones, the dance cannot be held.  Click here to sign up on signup to help with the Turnabout Dance and make this a safe and fun event for PVHS Students!  Please contact Kris with questions at kristinhwehrman@gmail.com OR 563-949-7122

2018-2019 Course Registration:   The portal closed on Monday, February 26th and it is imperative that all 10th and 11th grade students meet with their Counselor regarding their course selections.  If you have not met with your Counselor, please stop in the Counseling Office before March 9th to set up an appointment.  NOTE:  Counselors will make arrangements to see  9th grade students during their Resource period after spring break.

District Band Night:  PV Bands are excited to announce that again this year, they will be presenting the annual Pleasant Valley District Band Night Concert at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline, IL on Monday, April 23, 2018 beginning at 7:00 p.m.  By having the event at the TaxSlayer Center, all 13 bands and 830 students are able to perform together on one concert! You will receive more information about this spectacular event in the near future.  Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about this venue change and we look forward to seeing everyone at this exciting concert on Monday, April 23, 2018!

Volunteer at PV Robotics Summer Camp: Pleasant Valley students entering 9th-12th grades can volunteer to be a Peer Coach for any session of the upcoming summer Robotics camp for fun or service-learning hours!  To volunteer, students should register online by clicking here.  Visit www.RiverdaleHeightsRobotics.com for more information about the summer camp opportunity.

Battle of the Bridge Contest – Still Open:  There is still time to register for the 11th Annual Battle of the Bridge Contest! Friday, March 2nd is FULL, but there are still several openings for Saturday, March 3rd at The Putnam Museum. Teams can be up to 4 people of various combinations: Family (Any combination – kids, adults, seniors), Elementary (Grades 4-6), Middle School (Grades 7-8) or High School (Grades 9-12).
