Box Top Final Collection: The final cut and count for this school year’s box top collection is Wednesday, May 23rd from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  Any and all help is welcome – the group will meet in the conference room by the library. Thanks!

Bottled Water Donations for Field Day: On Thursday, May 31st, Hopewell will have its’ first Field Day!  If you would like to donate small (8oz.) bottled water for students to enjoy on Field Day, please drop them off in the office by Friday, May 25th.  Thank you!

Free Skating Party: On Thursday, May 31st, 6-8 pm, Hopewell has earned a free skating party. This party was earned because Hopewell averaged over 100 paid skaters per party at the 3 scheduled skate parties this school year.  Skating is free, skate rental is $1.50.  Come out and celebrate an awesome school year with your friends!

Box Top Collection: Thank you for helping Pleasant View earn money to take care of the school by submitting the box tops!  The last collection of the year will be Friday, May 25.  Please submit your box tops to your classroom by Friday!

Extra Pleasant View Yearbooks Available: The Pleasant View office has a limited number of 2017-18 student yearbooks available for sale to families who did not purchase one through the online registration process last May.  The yearbooks may be purchased by sending $17.00 cash or check to the office.  Checks should be made payable to PVCSD.  These yearbooks will be sold in person in a “first come, first serve” format.  Reservations may not be made by email or phone.  In order to ensure that your child receives a yearbook next school year, please consider purchasing in advance through the 2018-19 online registration process.

8th Grade Language Arts 20Time ShowcaseYou are invited to attend the PVJH 20Time Showcase on Thursday, May 24th, from 8:25 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. and 12:55 – 2:25 p.m.  8th graders have spent the last eight weeks working on their 20Time project, which is a self-directed, project-based learning experience where students decide what they learn about, set goals, and figure out how to meet those goals. This is an opportunity for you to talk with students individually and hear what they learned and the processes they went through to reach their goals. As students will be set-up in multiple classrooms and spaces, feel free to visit anytime during the times listed above.  Please enter through the main entrance and you will be directed to the Showcase. Thank you for your support and encouragement at home and in the larger community!

Fashion Camp: Fashion Camp is designed to provide experience based learning about fashion and design.  All aspects of the fashion industry-from sketching, textiles, garment design to creating your own fashion piece.  Students will model their fashion piece at the end of the week in a runway fashion show for family and friends.  Camp is for ages 12-16 and costs $129.  Camp dates are Mon-Fri,  July 30-Aug 3, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., at Pleasant Valley High School.  Marta Brooks will be the camp instructor.  Register by calling Scott Community College, 563-441-4100.

Library book returns and fines: As the end of the school year approaches, it is important to make sure all library books are returned and student’s fines are paid. All books are due on Friday, May 25. Books not returned by noon on Friday, June 1st will be marked lost. The replacement cost and a $5.00 non-refundable processing fine will also be assessed. Also please make sure all student fines are also paid by noon on Friday, June 1st. A computer generated email is sent out every Monday morning with the Subject Line of Overdue Notice or Fine Notice. Overdue notice means the book needs to be returned or a fine may be incurred. The Fine Notice means the student has a fine, but the book has been returned. The last week of school these emails will be sent out every morning. Additionally, you have the option of having your child check their library account to determine what is overdue and/or fine amounts on the card catalog, Destiny, by clicking here.  The username is: student ID#; password is: last name. Thank you for another great school year!

All Girl AT&T Hello Sunshine Filmmaker Lab:  Calling all young women interested in filmmaking!  Fresh Films is partnering with AT&T and Hello Sunshine (Reese Witherspoons’s media company) to provide an opportunity for young women to immerse themselves in a professional film production and learn from industry experts.  This is a free opportunity with travel & lodging provided for the young women and a chaperone who lives outside of California.
