Incoming 7th Grade Physical and Concussion Form: If your incoming 7th grader plans to participate in a junior high sport next year, they will need a current physical and concussion form signed. Find those forms by clicking here. There are also 2 immunizations required to start the first day of junior high; the Tdap and meningococcal vaccines. You must provide proof of these immunizations to begin the first day of school in August. Make an appointment with your family doctor today to get these requirements met.  Contact your school nurse with any questions.

PV Beginning Band Super Lesson:  Beginning Band Students and Parents are strongly encouraged to attend our PV Beginning Band Super Lesson from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4th in the PVHS band room.  Babysitting will be provided for younger siblings so parents and band students can participate in the evening’s activities. Activities will include a brief meeting followed by an instrument-specific class showing instrument assembly, care/maintenance, and producing those first sounds!  If you have any questions, please contact your school’s band director!

X-Plosion Fall Softball Try-Outs: Mark your calendars for the X-Plosion Fall Softball tryouts!  See the team website for details and dates by clicking here!  This year, a new level of play is being introduced. Memorial Day Ceremony at Bridgeview Elementary:  PVCSD would like to invite you and your family to a special Memorial Day Ceremony held at Bridgeview Elementary School in LeClaire on Monday, May 28 at 11:00 AM.  This wonderful event is presented by the American Legion Auxiliary Buffalo Bill Post #347, and will also feature the Pleasant Valley Concert Band along with several special guest speakers, including Colonel Stacy S. Townsend, US Army RIA.  Come and help pay tribute to all those who have served our country with this special tradition!

Wear Your Favorite Team Apparel Week at Cody:  Team Cody!  For the last week of school, Cody is inviting everyone to wear team apparel each day to celebrate the awesome team of students and adults at Cody Elementary!  Feel free to wear your show off your favorite baseball, basketball, football, soccer, hockey, school team apparel.  It’s been a great year for Team Cody!

Lost and Found:   If you are in the building, please take a minute to look through the lost and found in the front hallway.   At the close of the school year Mrs. Harris, the school nurse, will go through any unclaimed items and keep some of them for extra clothing here at school. The remaining items will be donated to Goodwill.

Summer Office Hours:    The Cody school office will remain open until Friday, June 15th during the hours of 7:00 – 3:00 and will re-open on Monday, August 6th during those same hours.  The office will be open periodically throughout the summer for in-service opportunities and workshop dates.   If you are unable to contact someone at the school, please contact the Belmont Administration Center at 563-332-5550.

End of the Year Reports:   The students’ end of the year reports will be mailed directly to your home.  Please contact the school office (332-0210) if you have any questions.

Bottled Water Donations for Field Day: On Thursday, May 31st, Hopewell will have its’ first Field Day!  If you would like to donate small (8oz.) bottled water for students to enjoy on Field Day, please drop them off in the office by Friday, May 25th.  Thank you!

Free Skating Party: On Thursday, May 31st, 6-8 pm, Hopewell has earned a free skating party. This party was earned because Hopewell averaged over 100 paid skaters per party at the 3 scheduled skate parties this school year.  Skating is free, skate rental is $1.50.  Come out and celebrate an awesome school year with your friends!

Support Hopewell Harvest—Items to collect over the summer:  The Hopewell Harvest Committee is already hard at work planning next fall’s Harvest! As you’re doing some spring cleaning or summer shopping, please consider if you can donate any of these items. There will be a collections box at Back to School Night so you can easily turn in any donations.

  • Books for kids of all ages for the Cake Walk
  • Trinkets to be used as game prizes (kid’s meal toys, promotional items from businesses, small bouncy balls, etc.)
  • Exciting Raffle items (items in the past have included electric scooters, gaming systems such as the Xbox, iPads, Kindles, electric guitars, tickets to a local event)

PTA ReflectionsEach year hundreds of thousands of students in kindergarten through grade 12 throughout the nation create and submit original works in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts through their school’s PTA Reflections program.  Over the last few years, Hopewell has had great interest and success with imaginative and creative entries from many students.  The 2018-2019 theme, “Heroes Around Me,” will spark imagination and creativity in school and at home.   The theme has been provided in case your student wants to work on their project over the summer months.  Look for more information coming home regarding Reflections in September of 2018.

Memorial Day Ceremony at Bridgeview Elementary:  PVCSD would like to invite you and your family to a special Memorial Day Ceremony held at Bridgeview Elementary School in LeClaire on Monday, May 28 at 11:00 AM.  This wonderful event is presented by the American Legion Auxiliary Buffalo Bill Post #347, and will also feature the Pleasant Valley Concert Band along with several special guest speakers, including Colonel Stacy S. Townsend, US Army RIA.  Come and help pay tribute to all those who have served our country with this special tradition!

Last Day of School: The last day of school is next Friday, June 1st!  Elementary students will be released at 11:30 a.m. (no lunch served), Junior High students will follow a regular schedule and regular release time, and High School students will be released after the end of the 4th period final at 12:00 p.m. (pending no make-up final work).  Thanks for a great year!

Final Friday eNews: This eNews will be the final Friday eNews of the 2017-18 school year! There may be periodic emails sent throughout the summer, so don’t ignore your inbox completely!

PVJH Last Day of School Fun:  Get ready for summer with bounce houses, water balloons, ice cream, and more! The last day of school at the junior high will be a luau theme.  Be sure to wear your best island wear and be ready to have some fun next Friday!

Outside Food at PVJH:  In this last week of school and beyond, PVJH would like to remind students and parents that no outside food is to be brought in to the junior high to be shared at a lunch table, which includes having food delivered to the junior high. You ARE allowed to bring your own child a special lunch or a drink to be eaten during their lunch period only, but food delivery and bringing food for an entire table is not allowed. Your cooperation on this issue is much appreciated!

Library book returns and fines: As the end of the school year approaches, it is important to make sure all library books are returned and student’s fines are paid. All books are due on Friday, May 25. Books not returned by noon on Friday, June 1st will be marked lost. The replacement cost and a $5.00 non-refundable processing fine will also be assessed. Also please make sure all student fines are also paid by noon on Friday, June 1st. A computer generated email is sent out every Monday morning with the Subject Line of Overdue Notice or Fine Notice. Overdue notice means the book needs to be returned or a fine may be incurred. The Fine Notice means the student has a fine, but the book has been returned. The last week of school these emails will be sent out every morning. Additionally, you have the option of having your child check their library account to determine what is overdue and/or fine amounts on the card catalog, Destiny, by clicking here.  The username is: student ID#; password is: last name. Thank you for another great school year!

X-Plosion Fall Softball Try-Outs: Mark your calendars for the X-Plosion Fall Softball tryouts!  See the team website for details and dates by clicking here!  This year, a new level of play is being introduced. Center for Alcohol and Drug Services “Hidden in Plain Sight” Experience:  As a parent or guardian, do you ever ask yourself questions like:  “Is it okay to lookHigh S into my child’s affairs?” “Why the interest in this?” or “Can you tell me what this is about?” Learn about hidden messaging and how it relates to drug use (or preoccupation). Learn how to identify drugs and locate hidden or look-a-like compartments. Prevention Specialists are on site to assist you with questions and tips on how to start the conversation with your teen today.  This exhibit is FREE! Must be 19 years of age or older. Click here to learn more and set up an appointment today!

Locker Cleanout Reminder:  Please remind your student to clean out their PE and school lockers.  Anything left in their lockers will be thrown away.
