Kiss Me Kate – PVHS Fall Musical: The musical Kiss Me, Kate will be presented by PVHS on November 1 and 3 at 7pm and November 4 at 2:00pm.  Tickets are available at www.pleasval.org/theatre.  It is recommended that you purchase your reserved seat ticket online and soon!  This Broadway classic has been revived on Broadway numerous times.  It contains “Another Op’nin, Another Show,” “Always True to You,’ “Too Darn Hot,” and more! Cody Book Fair:  The Cody PTA will be holding the Scholastic Book Fair from Monday, November 5th– Friday, November 9th.  It will held in the library and will be open during lunch time every day.  It will also have after school hours Tuesday and Wednesday 4-7 and Thursday 3-8. Can’t make it to the fair?  Check out the online fair and shop an extended selection between October 26th – November 11th by clicking here.  The book fair is made possible by volunteers.  If you are available and would like to sign up to work a shift, please visit the sign up page by clicking here.

PTA Reflections: Congratulations to everyone who participated in Reflections.  Cody has the 41 students participate and 57 projects turned in! Thank you to Elizabeth Foad and Steph Peterson for all their efforts promoting Reflections at Cody.  A pizza party is planned for any student who turned in a project.

Early Dismissal Reminder:  There will be an Early Out on Wednesday, November 7th.  Please plan accordingly.

Hopewell Poverty Drive: Sixth grade students have organized a drive to help the poor and homeless in the Quad Cities community.  The Poverty Drive will be taking place November 5th-9th at Hopewell Elementary School and your help is needed!  Students can help by donating certain items specific to their grade level and slightly worn clothing and shoes.  Thank you for the difference you will make!  Click here to view the class list of items being collected. 

Hopewell PTA Meeting: The next PTA Meeting is November 8th at 9:00 a.m. – This meeting will approve the bylaws for the next 3 years for the Hopewell PTA. Please attend if you can!

Hopewell Book Fair: The Hopewell Book Fair dates are November 6th and 8th from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you can help with set up or clean up please contact kloreiter@yahoo.com. The selection is always great! There are books and other small related items like erasers, book markers and posters. There are also adult books too – perfect for gift giving!

PV Apparel Sale at Hopewell: PV Apparel will also be sold during the November 8th Book Fair! This is a one-time only event! Hopewell is very excited to have the Apparel, as it will have all the apparel that you see at the High School. It will not say Hopewell, but it is all Spartan!!!  Let’s show the Athletic Boosters how much Hopewell appreciates this opportunity!

Conference Childcare: Childcare will be provided for conferences November 8th. The conference room next to the library will have supervised care for conferences from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Family Activity Night: Hopewell Family Activity Night is November 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There won’t be pizza, but there will be a TACO Truck so you can buy a yummy dinner! There are games and dancing – music and FUN! It is a great way to burn of the week with a high energy event that the kids LOVE! See you there!

Hearing Screening Volunteers Needed:  Nurse Kim Zupancic is still looking for volunteers to assist with the AEA Hearing Screens for K, 1st, 2nd, 5th graders and all new students to the district on November 15th.  To volunteer, please email zupancickim@pleasval.k12.ia.us if you are available to escort children to and from class for any part of the day.

Conference Babysitters: The PTA provides complimentary babysitters in the gymnasium during conferences!  Babysitters will be there on Tuesday, 11/6 and Thursday, 11/8 from 3:15-8:15 both nights.  Take your student(s) to the gym, sign them in, attend your conference(s) and then pick them back up and sign them out!

Conference Meal Sign Up: Riverdale Heights PTA is looking for volunteers to sign up to bring food for Teachers on the conference night, Tuesday, November 6th. Click here to signup to bring food. As a note, please label all your containers, spoons, crockpots and lids. Drop your signed food before 3:00 p.m. in the front office. Musical Bingo: Join the Riverdale Heights PTA on Friday, November 9th for Musical BINGO Night at Riverdale Heights Elementary. Enjoy an evening of fun, music, contests, and BINGO with all your friends and family. Prizes will be awarded for all winners, and pizza and other concessions will be available for purchase. BINGO chips will be on sale for $5. The event begins at 6:00 p.m., ends at 8:00 p.m., and will take place in the cafeteria. Please come early, as seats fill up fast. This is not a drop off event; all children must be accompanied by a parent.
