Cody Winter Program: Cody will be having two performances for the Winter Program again this year.  Due to the amazing number of family and friends who have attended in previous years, it has become necessary to offer two performance times.  Cody will use the following system to reduce the number of audience members in a given performance and therefore reduce the wait time and increase the seating availability. Cody will alternate which half of the alphabet goes first every year.

  • Friends and family members of students whose last name begins with letters L – Z will attend the morning performance at 9:00 a.m.

Pleasant View

Announcements

Student Drop-Off Procedure Reminder from Principal Cotton:  As the temperatures get colder throughout the year, Pleasant View typically observes more and more students in the drop-off zone getting out of cars as close to the school as possible.  This means that parents are having their kids wait in their car until they are near the steps that lead up to the patio.  Please know that this causes a large back-up in our drop-off zone and driveway.  When this happens, kids may end up tardy to school because the doors on the patio area of the building are automatically locked at 8:30 a.m.

As I explain in my drop-off/pick-up zone video that is posted on the Pleasant View website, the entire sidewalk is considered the drop-off zone.  When the line of cars comes to a stop, children should begin exiting cars and walking along the sidewalk to the school.  If everyone would follow this procedure, student drop-off would take little time and few students would end up tardy to school.  I started this message with recognizing that temperatures are getting colder.  Please have your child appropriately dressed in a winter coat, hat, gloves, etc. each day so they can exit the car along the sidewalk and remain as warm as possible during this short walk into the school from the car.

A variety of videos and pictures about our pick-up/drop-off procedures can be found at this link:  Pleasant View Parking Lot Procedures.  Feel free to contact me with questions or concerns about our student drop-off procedures.

4th – 6th Grade Battle of the Books: Pleasant View students in 4th-6th grade are invited to participate in a Battle of the Books style competition. Using the Iowa Children’s Choice Award list, teams of students will have the opportunity to compete in a local, district, and regional events. Team registration has begun!  If your child is interested in participating, Click Here for more information or contact Mrs. Anderson, Teacher Librarian andersonbeverly@pleasval.k12.ia.us
