Cody Library Reading Incentive: I mustache you…what are you reading?  Cody Library is offering a reading incentive for the month of November that asks the question, “I mustache, what are you reading?” Can you suggest a good book to a friend? If Cody Library circulates more books in November 2018 compared to November 2017 (3,286 circulations) we will celebrate with a mustache day at the end of the month. Paralleling our month long reading incentive, Cody Library is also encouraging students to check-out materials that they simply enjoy reading.  This may include:

  • Expanding our definition of reading to include non-fiction, graphic novels, comics, nonfiction, comic strips, humor, magazines, newspapers, and online text
  • Getting students to recommend reading they do like to other students.
  • Providing students with role models for reading in school and at home.

Although these suggestions come from the “Guys Read” initiative created by renowned children’s book author Jon Scieszka, everyone’s love of reading will always be supported here at Cody Library!

For Safety and Accountability: Please remember to contact the main office if your child plans a different after school event other than their normal after school routine.  Cody takes this responsibility very seriously.  Please write a note in their student planner, call (563)332-0210, email Mrs. Kipper, kipperjennifer@pleasval.k12.ia.us, or Mrs. Spinsby, spinsbyc@pleasval.k12.ia.us

Winter Recess:  Please make sure that your student(s) are dressed appropriately for outdoor recess.  Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated!

Lost and Found: Make sure to check the lost and found table, (located in main hallway between restrooms and drinking fountain) any unclaimed items left on table will be donated to Goodwill after winter break.
