Genesis Flu-Free Quad Cities Program: On October 9th, Genesis will offer FREE seasonal flu vaccines to PV students in grades K-6. Click here to access the consent forms that will also come home with students next week.  Forms should be returned if you would like your child to receive a free flu vaccine.

Picture Retake DayCody’s picture retake day will be Thursday, October 11th. If your child was absent the day school pictures were taken, their picture will be taken for the yearbook.  If you did not purchase a picture package and would like to now, or if you would like your child’s picture retaken, you may have them photographed on this day.  In order to receive a picture package, the student must either bring a money envelope with the picture package listed (picture envelopes are available in the office) or return the picture package that was not satisfactory.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call the  office at 332-0210.

FOR SAFETY and ACCOUNTABILITY: Please remember to contact the main office if your child plans a different after school event other than their normal after school routine.  Cody takes this responsibility very seriously.  Please write a note in their student planner, call (563)332-0210, email Mrs. Kipper, kipperjennifer@pleasval.k12.ia.us, or Mrs. Spinsby, spinsbyc@pleasval.k12.ia.us

Outdoor Recess: Please make sure that your student(s) are dressed appropriately for outdoor recess.  Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated!

Lost and Found: Make sure to check the lost and found table, (located in main hallway between restrooms and drinking fountain) any unclaimed items left on table will be donated to Goodwill after winter break.

Cody Grandparent’s/Special Guest Day:  Cody Elementary is pleased to announce that Grandparent / Special Guest Day will be held in the afternoon on October 12, 2018.  Cody would like to welcome all grandparents and special guests from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m.  The afternoon will be spent in your grandchild’s/special guest’s classroom.  If you have multiple students you may visit their classrooms at your leisure.

Hopewell Harvest TONIGHT:  Join in the fun tonight at Hopewell Harvest from 5:00-8:00 p.m.! Didn’t pre-order tickets? No problem!  Wristbands and more can be purchased with cash tonight. See you there!

  • Harvest Schedule:
    • 5:00-7:15 pm: Games (including the cake walk, selfie station and jail)
    • 7:15 pm: Raffle ticket sales end in the cafeteria
    • 7:20 pm: Dance party and raffle drawing in the gym
    • 7:30 pm: Silent auction bidding ends in cafeteria

Pleasant View Fall Fest:  Join the Pleasant View PTA tonight for Fall Fest from 5:00-8:00 p.m.!  There are fabulous silent auction baskets and an amazing raffle this year. Wristbands for games may be purchased at the door. Volunteers – please check in at the volunteer table when you arrive. Hope to see you there!

Flu Shot Clinic Helpers:  The nurse, Ms. Hanson, needs a couple more helpers to assist at the flu shot clinic on Monday morning, October 8th.  Genesis nurses will be there to administer the vaccinations!  Sign-up here if you are available to help give comfort to students receiving their shots.

FLL Jr. for Grades K-2:   The Riverdale Heights Robotics Program is offering an opportunity for 1st grade through 4th graders to join a FIRST LEGO League Jr. (FLL Jr.) team for the 2018-2019 Mission Moon season.  Through exploratory research, hands-on construction, teamwork, imagination, and fun with LEGO elements, FIRST LEGO League Jr. (FLL Jr.) challenges teams to explore a real-world scientific concept, use basic engineering concepts to build a motorized model, and develop a Show Me Poster to illustrate their journey of discovery. Click here to register.

Riverdale Heights World Culture Night:  Let’s celebrate the diversity of the Riverdale Heights families!
Join Riverdale on October 16th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., for an evening full of culture, food, and fun, at the 1st Annual ‘We are Riverdale Heights Night’.  All of Riverdale Heights families come from a broad spectrum of cultures and backgrounds that make our school unique. It is important to celebrate and share differences, as well as similarities.  The PTA is asking that you bring a dish that is from the land of your ancestors, represents your cultural heritage, or simply, one of your family’s favorites!  Be looking for invitations to come home soon with a chance to RSVP for the event. PVJH Conference Scheduling: Pleasant Valley Junior High School will be using the PTC Fast Online Scheduling program for Parent-Teacher conferences for the 2018-2019 school year.  The scheduling window opened up on the evening of Wednesday, October 3rd and will remain open until the day of the conference. The junior high will hold conferences on Thursday, October 11th and Tuesday, October 16th from 3:30-7:30.  Click here for the scheduling link

PVJH Fall Social: All PVJH students are invited to the Fall Social in the JH Cafeteria on Friday, October 12th from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.!  $1 admission, concessions for sale, DJ, Open Gym, and more!  See you there!  *Note: No activity bus that day.  Students will need transportation.*

Scholastic Book Fair: The Scholastic Book Fair is back!! Don’t miss out on all the great reading materials and the opportunity to help other school libraries by donating to All for Books in the library starting on Friday, October 5th.  PVJH’s library benefits and school libraries affected by hurricane damage get needed Scholastic Dollars to replace books and materials.

The Scholastic book fair will be open to students starting on Friday, October 12-Tuesday, October 16 from 7:15-3:15. The fair is also open both nights of Parent Teacher Conferences (Thursday, October 11th & Tuesday, October 16th). Books are available for all ages. Forms of payment include cash, checks made out of PVJH, and credit/debit cards. Books purchased on-line will be shipped to the school seven to ten days after the fair ends.

Quad Cities College Fair: The annual Quad Cities College Fair is being held on Monday, October 8th from 5:30-7:30 at the Rogalski Center on the campus of St. Ambrose University.  Students in grades 10-12 who plan on pursing some type of educational programming after graduation from high school are encouraged to attend. Over 60 post-secondary schools will be in attendance.

FAFSA Assistance: On Saturday, November 3rd, from 9 a.m. to noon, the St. Ambrose Admissions and Financial Aid staff will help students complete the FAFSA.  Parents should bring their 2017 tax returns, Social Security numbers, record of any investments or untaxed income (real estate, child support), balance of bank accounts, and FSA ID (if they have created one).  Students should bring their 2017 tax returns (if they filed), their social security number, balance of bank accounts, and FSA ID (if they have created one).  Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.   Appointments can be scheduled at FrakesHilaryA@sau.edu The event will take place at the Admissions and Welcome Center (310 W.
