ANNOUNCEMENTS

Parent Conditions for Learning Survey: Don’t forget to take the Conditions for Learning Survey.  The survey contains items focusing on areas that range from student safety, to positive adult and student relationships, to school rules and how they are enforced. The results will be provided to each school in our district to be used with the student survey results for identifying areas of strengths and areas for improvement. You can access instructions and the link to the survey. A copy of the items on the survey is available by request.  

PV-Issued Devices:

·         Students who are attending school in person and have checked out a device (iPad/Chromebook) from the district are asked to return the device and charger to the classroom teacher by May 18. These devices will be collected, checked back in, and redistributed to the classrooms for use the rest of the school year.

·         Online Students that have checked out a device (iPad/Chromebook) from the district are asked to return the device and charger to the administration center (525 Belmont Rd) either on June 7 from 7:00am - 12:00 pm or June 8 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm.

Meals Available for At-Home Learners: Meals will be available every Monday from 10:00 am – 11:00 am for 100% online learners.  You’ll pick up all your meals for the entire week.  You must fill out this form every week by Monday at 6:00am to register for the meals.  Meals are currently free because of a government program.

Bus Drivers Needed!  The search for the right drivers is paramount to our success because the best drivers = the safest kids. Durham School Services is hiring!

I’d like to thank our amazing kids and their families for a great year of learning and adapting to these changes like champs! Thank you teachers and staff, especially Mr. Hiatt for keeping things together and helping me and all of us through this year! We are excited for our last few events of the year before summer. Our Spirit Week Fundraiser will be May 17th-21st! Dress up and donate! Our goal is to make $4,000 for all the events for the kids and support for the staff in the upcoming school year. We’re encouraging families to donate $20 for the week or $5 a day to get us to our goal! The class with the most donations will win a simple dimple keychain! More information and flyers will be sent out next week, we can’t wait for this event!

Our book fair will be the last week of school and more information will be out on that soon!

PVJH PTA: 6th Grade Parents - We'd like to invite you to join us virtually at our last Junior High PTA meeting of the year. ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES

Current 6th Graders: If your child is interested in playing a fall sport at PVJH for the 21-22 school year, please sign your child up via Family ID. This is how your student will now sign up to participate in all sporting seasons at PVJH.  We will no longer complete a paper-pencil signup at lunches.   Fall Sports are Football, Volleyball, Cross Country and Cheerleading.  

Current 5th Graders: It is time to register for 6th Grade Band!  During this past week (and continuing next week), all of the 5th graders in the school district were introduced to our highly acclaimed band program.  Each student has received a packet of information on how to register, how to obtain an instrument, and options on when to get started.  Please visit our Beginning Band Webpage for more information.  Additionally, there will be an informational parent meeting and question/answer session about our band program on Thursday, May 13th at 7:00pm in the Pleasant Valley High School Theater.  We hope to see you there!  Please contact your Rachel Isaacson at isaacsonrachel@pleasval.org with any questions.

Current 3rd Graders: All current 3rd grade students are welcome to sign up for orchestra for next year - for 4th grade! COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES

Boy Scouts: Camping, hiking, fishing, rocket launches, campfires, service projects, community, and of course, Pinewood Derby!  The only thing missing is your future Cub Scout!  Join us at Hollyhock Park Tuesday May 11th at 6pm, as we give an introduction to what Cub Scouts is all about!  We will answer any and all questions that parents may have, and explain why Scouting is a favorite activity for the whole family.

Rick’s House of Hope Camps:

Camp Good Grief is for children ages 5-10 that are grieving and need a little help in understanding grief. 
Camp Rollercoaster is for children ages 5-10 that have experienced some kind of family change such as divorce, moving etc.
