7-12 Attendance Verification Form: Thank you to the families who have already filled out the 7-12 attendance verification form.  If you have yet to do so, you must fill out this form by 5:00pm today.  One form per household, please.   You are choosing the learning model your 7-12 student will participate in from January 19 to the end of the school year. An attendance verification form for elementary students will be sent mid-January for 3rd term, starting February 16. If you missed this week’s message from Mr. Strusz, click here.

Free Meals for All Students: All school breakfasts and lunches will be free through the end of the school year! Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

Meals Available for At-Home Learners: We will have meals available each week for 100% online and hybrid at-home days. You must fill out this form every week by Monday at 6:00am to register for the meals. Meals will be available for pick up every day from 10:30am-11:00am at PVHS in the bus drop off area. 

COLLEGE & CAREERS

Postsecondary 101: How Has COVID Impacted Admissions Join us on Thursday, December 17 at 7:00pm to ask questions about how the current Hybrid and Online schedule, grades, sports and financial issues impact the admissions process. College admissions reps will talk about the pros & cons as well as what parents and students can do to mitigate the impact of the current pandemic's effect on admissions. This will be an interactive session between parents and the colleges. Colleges that will present are: Augustana, St. Ambrose, Scott Community College, University of Illinois, University of Iowa and Western Illinois University. Videos will be updated every month.

 

Need a Job? Mrs. Johnson has been contacted by a local business who is interested in hiring a high school student for part-time, office work. If interested please email Mrs. Johnson at johnsonmary@pleasval.org. 

 

Local 25 Apprenticeship: is currently taking applications for their apprenticeship program. The application deadline is January 29th by 4:30 PM. If interested in applying, seniors need the following: completed application, $25 application fee (in person/at the Training Center), Birth Certificate, HS Transcript (Diploma will be required), Driver's License (or State photo ID). Study guides are available for $15.00 at the Training Ctr.  Training Ctr address is: 4612 46th Ave Ct, Moline, IL 61265. 

 

 

ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES

Band Concerts, December 7 – ABC Gym

5:30 PM: Hybrid A Concert Band
6:30 PM: 9th grade Concert Band (both days)
7:30 PM: Hybrid B Concert Band
8:30 PM: Spartan Winds

Each performing student will receive 2 concert vouchers to give to any family members who would like to attend their concert.  Those who receive a concert voucher will still need to either purchase an admission ticket, use their century club pass, or student activity ticket to gain entrance to the performance.  If you have students in multiple bands, you will need separate concert vouchers for each concert.  However, you will only need to purchase admission to the first concert you attend.  The admission prices for all high school fine arts events are: $2.00 students; $4.00 adults; or $10.00 per family.

Everyone will be required to wear a face mask upon entering the building and social distance throughout the performance.

Boys Cross Country - MAC Champions, 3rd place at Districts, 12th place 4A IHSAA State Championship

Girls Cross Country - MAC Champions, Regional Champions, 8th place 4A IGHSAU State Championship

Football - MAC POD/District Champions (undefeated regular season), Substate Champions, 4A IHSAA State Semifinalists

Cheerleading - 5 Cheerleaders make the All-State Team & 3 make the Honor Squad

Dancers - Competed live at the Iowa State Dance & Drill Championship - results will be shared on Saturday, December 5

 

FINE ARTS

Marching Band - participated in all home games including all play-off games following protocols established by IHSMA

Drama - several performances with an audience following following protocols established by IHSSA

Orchestra - live performance with audience following protocol 

Band -  live performance with audience following protocol

Choir - streamed & taped performances without audience
