ANNOUNCEMENTS

No School February 18 and 21:  Because we did not have a snow day before February 11, there will be no school on February 18.  There will also be no school on February 21 in honor of Presidents’ Day.

PVJH Conferences:  Registration is open now for conferences on February 17.  All conferences will be virtual.  Please click here to schedule times between 3:30pm and 7:30pm.

Student Illness:  Thank you for not sending your child to school if he or she is sick. Please remember to call the office (not text or email) and provide 2 symptoms your child is experiencing when ill. We report daily to the Scott County Health Department. Please let the office know if your child has a communicable disease confirmed by a doctor. If your child tests positive for Covid please refer to the PV Family Handbook. Children must be fever free and vomiting free for 24 hours prior to returning to school. You can contact your school nurse any time with questions.

Incoming 8th grade students:  Students currently in 7th grade will receive course selection materials during the school day on Thursday, March 3rd.  Counselors will discuss the course selection process with the students at that time. 

Incoming 9th grade students:  Parents of current 8th grade students who will be entering 9th grade this fall are invited to attend a meeting on:

Tuesday, February 15th for last names beginning A-L at 7:00 pm in the PVHS Theatre.

Wednesday, February 16th, for last names beginning M-Z at 7:00 pm in the PVHS Theatre.

Please make every effort to attend your assigned meeting date and time.  Please limit parent attendance to one per child, due to space limitations.   We will be going over High School course registration, four year academic plans, available courses and 8th period resource. Students currently in 8th grade will receive high school course selection materials during the school day on Thursday, February 17th.  Junior High Counselors will discuss the course selection process with the students at that time. 

Parking Lot Reminders: Students should not be getting picked up in the front of the school or by Door E-1 to ensure that students are not mixing with bus traffic. Students have been well informed that car pick up is in the back of the building only. This is a rules violation with a consequence. Please inform grandparents, babysitters, older siblings etc. of the safety procedure.Thank you for helping your student follow the rules to ensure safety for all.

COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES

Born Learning Academy: In partnership with United Way, Pleasant Valley Schools will be hosting a Born Learning Academy at Bridgeview Elementary School for parents of preschoolers birth-5 years old. This series of free parent workshops will be held on Wednesdays, March 23 – April 27 from 4:30pm – 5:30pm.  Dinner will be provided for families starting at 5:45 and childcare is available during the academy sessions. Discussion topics will include brain development, early literacy skills, establishing routines, health and nutrition, and building relationships…to name just a few.

Each family that attends 5 of 6 workshops will be awarded a tablet with a child-friendly case. Space is limited…first come first served.  Please click here to register.

Bettendorf Parks and Recreation: 2022 SPRING SOCCER LEAGUE! All games are played on Sundays at Crow Creek Park Soccer Complex in Bettendorf, April 10 – May 22, from 11am-6pm. Divisions include 4 Year Olds, Pre-K/Kindergarten, 1st/2nd Grade, 3rd/5th Grade, and 6th/8th Grade (some divisions offer coed and girls only). COST: $60 (add $10 late fee after 2/26), REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 4TH!! Questions?
