PLV 4th Graders Share Personal Narratives

Student reading

After spending weeks working hard on their personal narratives, Mrs. Meghan Ruth's 4th grade class at Pleasant View got to share their stories with a live audience of their parents for the first time at their Coffee House Writing Celebration!

The classroom is transformed into a "Coffee Shop," decked out with snacks, drinks, atmospheric lighting, and casual seating around the room. Students sat in the author's chair and read their stories aloud to their classmates and parents, sharing about a personal experience that they remember vividly or that has changed their life. This exercise allows students to practice speaking and listening skills, audience skills, writing standards, and proved to be very motivating for because they had a real audience that wanted to hear their stories. Way to go young authors!
