Kathryn Ludwig Humanitarian Scholarship

The Kathryn Ludwig Humanitarian Scholarship is privately sponsored by a former family of the Pleasant Valley School District. It will be awarded to a Pleasant Valley senior who recognizes and appreciates people of all abilities, has demonstrated community-mindedness, and has shown an interest in helping and/or mentoring peers of all abilities. The Kathryn Ludwig Humanitarian Scholarship is character-based, rather than need- or merit-based. The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient’s chosen postsecondary institution.


Criteria to Apply:

  • Be a graduating senior of PVHS with a GPA satisfactory for college admission
  • Plan to attend a college or vocational school upon graduation
  • Demonstrate compassion for peers with special needs, be community-minded and show evidence of service-learning experience that is consistent with the intent of this scholarship
  • Pursue a career in the helping and/or advocacy profession

Scholarship Personal Statement/Essay:

  • In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us why you've chosen your field of study.
  • In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us what your plans are after your post-secondary education is complete.
  • In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us about one of the following: your ability to problem solve, work with others, and/or your dedication to the community.
  • In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us how you've overcome an obstacle.
  • In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us anything else about yourself you think the selection committee would like to know.
  • In less than 250 words (1700 characters), describe your career goals and explain how these will demonstrate a commitment and dedication to bettering the lives of people.
