In Mr. Fermoyle’s 3rd grade class at Cody, we got a glimpse of some hard work through guided reading. Students are assigned different books at their own reading level and work with the teacher – in this case in a slide show – to show their fluency and comprehension. Students mark the books with tons of post-its indicating different categories, like an event the author wants me to know or feelings or motivations a character is having. This helps students read deeper and retain more.
