Public Records Request
(FOIA & Iowa Chapter 22 Open Records Act)
The Pleasant Valley Community School District values openness and transparency and adheres to federal law and the Code of Iowa to ensure public records are accessible.
While many district records are readily available on the district's website, the district strives to process public records requests promptly, aiming to fulfill them within 10 business days of receipt whenever administratively feasible. For additional information or specific requests, please complete the designated form, and a district staff member will assist you.
To request student record information, please fill out the district’s Request for Student Records form. After submission, a representative will follow-up with you to obtain a copy of a vaild photo ID.
Reasonable Fees for Producing Records Requests
Pursuant to Iowa Code § 22.3, the district is permitted to recover reasonable costs incurred in retrieving, reviewing, screening, redacting, and producing records.
Search, Screening, and Redaction
Time spent locating records, reviewing them for confidential or exempt information, and redacting as required by law.
$50.47/hour (1st hour free)
Copying and Printing
Hard copies prepared for review and redaction.
$0.10/page (1st 30 pages free)
Electronic Formatting & Processing
Time spent formatting, editing, and converting electronic records into requested formats.
$25.00/hour
Additional Information
- If the district can reasonably provide records in less than 30 minutes, requestors will not be charged for search, screening, and redaction.
- If there is a significant cost, prepayment is required before processing begins.
- Upon receipt of payment, the district will track actual costs incurred.
- If the final cost is less than the estimate, the balance will be refunded.
- If the final cost exceeds the estimate, the requestor will be notified and required to remit the additional balance prior to release of records.
