Outstanding Achievements at Iowa Thespian Festival

Students at Iowa Thespian Festival

The Pleasant Valley Community School District is proud to share the achievements of our students at the Iowa Thespian Festival at the University of Northern Iowa. Our group of over 40 students demonstrated their talents in theater arts, contributing to a successful representation of our district. Students performed for judges and earned the following placements and qualifiers:

Iowa Thespy Awards

  • Elly Huhn placed 2nd in her center for Solo Musical Theatre
  • Kailee McCaw placed 2nd in her center for Solo Musical Theatre
  • Pratima Khatri placed 3rd in her center for Costume Construction
  • Ryan Pottratz placed 1st in his center for Stage Management

National Thespy Qualifiers

  • Elly Huhn - Solo Musical Theatre
  • Kailee McCaw - Solo Musical Theatre

Whitney Cozad submitted an independent film to be judged in the FilmWorks competition and our Improv Teams performed in front of other schools across the state. Keira Bowman directed the One Act, The 146 Flame, and the cast performed in front of judges receiving high honors.

Pratima Khatri also received one of the three college scholarships awarded and Jilian Garris was elected to the State Officer Board, the 11th straight year a PV student has been represented on the board.

Ms. Erin Klage, PVHS Social Studies Teacher and Assistant Director of Theatre said, “we are so proud of the achievements our students receive at our state and national competitions. Theatre is a place for students to grow and have a supporting community surrounding them and our students are always willing to take on new challenges. It is an honor to watch them all work so hard and see the successes of their efforts.”

We congratulate all participants for their dedication and look forward to continued success in the arts!
