After more than 30 years of service to Pleasant Valley students, staff, and families, Superintendent Brian Strusz has announced his retirement at the end of the school year. His decades of leadership have strengthened every corner of the district, leaving a legacy defined by academic excellence, innovation, and community partnership.
At Monday night’s meeting, the Pleasant Valley School Board voted to engage Grundmeyer Leader Services (GLS) to assist in the search for the district’s next superintendent.
“As a board, we recognize that selecting the next superintendent is one of our most important responsibilities,” shared Board President Molly Brockmann. “The decision to partner with a professional search firm ensures that the process will be thorough, transparent, and centered on the needs and values of the PV community."
Over the coming months, the Board will work closely with GLS to gather input from staff, families, and community members. This collaborative process will help identify the qualities most valued in the district’s next leader and ensure a smooth transition of leadership.
The tentative timeline includes Board and GLS planning sessions to establish the hiring calendar, salary range, and desired qualifications. Following that, community feedback will be collected, the position will be advertised, and candidate recruitment will begin. GLS will support the Board in organizing interview teams, reviewing applications, and facilitating the selection process.
"We are fortunate to have a strong community of administrators, teachers and families who make Pleasant Valley the top-rated district it is today. At the heart of our success is a shared commitment to putting students first and ensuring that every student has the best opportunity for success and happiness," Brockmann added.
Pleasant Valley’s commitment to excellence continues to guide every step of this process, ensuring that the district’s next superintendent will build upon a strong foundation of leadership and learning.
