Over the past six weeks, our Spartans showed what happens when passion meets purpose — coming together to make a powerful difference in the fight against hunger. This year, Pleasant Valley High School collected 102,619 pounds of food — an average of 58.91 pounds per student! That’s 273,534 meals for our neighbors across eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
At the Finale Rally on November 6 at River Bend Food Bank’s Davenport warehouse, PV was announced as this year’s Student Hunger Drive Champion!
Since 1986, the Student Hunger Drive has united thousands of students from across the region in the mission to end hunger. Together, these efforts have provided over 19 million meals to the 1 in 8 people in our communities who face food insecurity. All food and funds support River Bend Food Bank’s network of more than 400 hunger-relief partners across 23 counties.
A huge thank you to our entire Spartan Nation for showing up, donating, and supporting this incredible cause. Your generosity helped the Spartan Assembly live out this year’s theme — “We Compete So Everyone Can Eat.”
Once again, our Spartans proved what it means to be Committed to Excellence — in service, compassion, and community.
