Last night, 83 Pleasant Valley High School students were formally inducted into NHS — one of the nation’s premier organizations recognizing scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Families, staff, and supporters filled the PVHS theater as Wall of Honor Recipient Mark Murphy delivered an inspiring address to the newest members of Spartan Nation’s tradition of excellence.
What is NHS?
NHS is a nationally-recognized organization that honors outstanding high school students who excel in four key areas: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Membership is granted through a local selection process at each school rather than automatic qualification. To become a candidate, students typically must be enrolled for at least one semester at the school, meet the chapter’s minimum grade-point average (the national minimum is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent) and demonstrate strong service, leadership, and character.
Once selected and inducted, members take on responsibilities such as attending chapter meetings, contributing to service projects, and continuing to uphold the high standards of NHS. Learn more about the process here.
At Pleasant Valley, we are incredibly proud of these students for their exemplary commitment to these pillars — the very qualities that define what it means to be Committed to Excellence at PV.
