Congratulations to PVHS Journalism students! State awards were just announced and they took home some serious hardware.
Alyce Brown earned an honorable mention for Iowa Writer of the Year.
Alyce Brown, Ella Litchfield and Ingrid Hofmann were named Iowa High School Press Association. The IHSPA only gave 19 students across the state this honor and three are from PV!
Non-senior journalism students from around Iowa apply to be Emerging Journalists, promising young journalists whose work shows innovation and real talent. IHSPA named 30 finalists from Iowa. Allisa Pandit was a finalist. They then name the 10 Emerging Journalists. PV had two of the 10: Jayne Abraham and Aayusha Adhikari. They were awarded with a scholarship to attend the U of I Summer Journalism Workshop.
Individual awards were given in each of 30 different categories ranging from different genres of journalistic writing, print design, website design, social media coverage, video stories, podcasts, photography, and advertising. PV received 14 first place awards, 14 secord place awards, 11 third place awards, and 14 honorable mentions.
The Spartan Shield is, again, a finalist for News Team of the Year. The winner will be announced this fall.
