Iowa Open Enrollment law allows parents/guardians to enroll their child into a school district other than the district they reside in. An open enrollment application must be completed for each individual child. See attachments below for applications and FAQs.
The deadline for filing an Open Enrollment Application for students in grades 1-12 is March 1 prior to the school year of requested attendance.
The deadline for filing an open enrollment request for an incoming Kindergarten child is September 1 of the year open enrollment is first requested.
Exceptions to the Deadlines
Students who currently live and attend Pleasant Valley Schools, and whose family moves to another Iowa district and wants to remain in Pleasant Valley must file an application for continuation at Pleasant Valley no later than October 1 after the date of the move.
Students moving from out of state into an Iowa District other than Pleasant Valley and who want to attend Pleasant Valley Schools qualify for "good cause" and may have the deadline waived. Other reasons considered to be "good cause" as listed in the Iowa open enrollment law may also qualify.
